So I really liked the MFE for GC homebrew... But its lacking in many ways.
My latest project is a new homebrew app that specificly plays DVDs. It's still bound to the GC-Linux (because we still can't load Wii homebrew), but has greatly been improved in playback quality and region support.
This new app is derived from the "proof of concept" that is MFE, but is all fresh code and loads media without the need of a FileSystem mount emmbedded on each media (eg. the DVD Drive FS mount that has to be included on all media MFE loads).

I'm still in development phase, but have tested a couple canidates with good results.

Support currently includes:
- 4.7G DVD Media (-r, +r, +rw, and of course "originals")
- Region Free
- Multi-Language Subtitle Support

The only real downside to this is that you have to load the DVD containing the app, then swap the DVD you want to watch when asked. It's going to stay that way untill we get true Wii homebrew support (and getting there is way beyond me)

Will post a Screenshot in a bit and will keep you all updated.

WiiCR creato da Jacob Jarick (mem) e' una soluzione di media player per il Nintendo Wii. Funziona come un streaming media server ed e' capace di riprodurre circa tutti i file video in un file flv (quelli di youtube per capirci) per un flash player integrato. Consente di cercare in filesystem remoti per vedere: video (avi/xvid/divx/mpeg/wmv/etc), file di testo, jpg e ascoltare mp3.

NOVITA' Wii e GC alla Video Game Console Conference

In questo video youtube si scoprono molte cose nuove riguardo all hacking e agli exploit di Wii e GC.




riassunto:

Action Replay = GC homebrew
Action Replay + backdoor 1 = gc isos
backdoor 2 = gc homebrew and gc isos e wii iso's

backdoor 1 - la password trovata e': "MATSHITA DVD-GAME" (un grazie ai programmatori :P )
backdoor 2 - aggiunto un micricontroller per dire al dvd drive che lo standard dvd-r e' stato accettato come legittimo.

Questo vuol dire che potremo flashare i nostri dvd drive dei Wii (come quelli della xbox 360) per accettare SOLO giochi Wii di backup!!

Niente HOMEBREW perche i dischi Wii sono segnati e cryptati...

Sensor Bar is just an IR LED Array - La sensor bar e' solo una linea di LED Infrarossi

questo filmato dimostra come la sensor bar in realta' non serva a far riconoscere i movimenti al wiimote
....il controller probabilmente funziona a segnali radio (RF, Bt.)
si portra' sicuramente interfacciarlo con il pc per usarlo come mouse..
